Have you ever thought about Leadership Skills and jigsaw puzzles at the same time?
Noticed any similarities in the way you approach puzzles and leadership?
Yeah, it’s not something I’d ever thought of before either – until I rather rashly decided to start a new 1000 piece jigsaw… and spread it all over our dining table…
When I hit a few hurdles and pain points I started getting really curious about why I was continuing to do it – even though it was frustrating the hell out of me…. and I stumbled on some thoughts that overlapped with a few ‘reasons’ that I think are important leadership skills, so I thought it deserved a podcast episode to explore them a bit more and share them with you.
Often when people think of leadership they think of someone else – a boss or mentor, but I am increasingly focusing my thoughts on leadership to be about leadership of self no matter what role or title you currently hold.
I don’t know who originally said it but the phrase “You can lead from anywhere” is often thrown around and that’s the approach I tend to take – how can you show up as a leader in your own life and work.
In this episode you will hear:
- How leadership is defined by the Oxford dictionary
- The 6 Leadership skills you can learn and develop from a jigsaw puzzle
- How each one applies to jigsaws and leadership
- Ideas for you to assist you to make progress on your most important projects
There’s also a random movie recommendation …. just to keep things interesting…
What do you think?
Would love to know if you can think of any other leadership skills that a jigsaw puzzle can teach you – I’m sure there’s more than 6!
Thank you for listening!
